PETALING JAYA:
Several areas in Johor are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms tomorrow – the polling day for the state election – says the meteorological department (MetMalaysia).

According to the weather forecast published on MetMalaysia’s official website today, rain is expected in the morning in Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Kulai, Muar, Pontian and Tangkak, Bernama reported.

However, no rain is forecast in those six districts in the afternoon or at night.

Kluang, Kota Tinggi and Segamat are expected to experience thunderstorms in the afternoon, while Mersing is forecast to be affected by similar conditions from the afternoon until night.

Temperatures in most districts are expected to range from a low of 23°C to highs of between 33°C and 34°C.

Earlier today, the Election Commission said it expects voter turnout for the Johor election to reach about 70%.

Voting begins at 8am, and the polling centres will close at different times depending on their locations, with most closing at 6pm.

EC chairman Ramlan Harun said some will close at 11am, with the earliest being in Pulau Besar, about half an hour from Mersing.

The Pulau Aur and Pulau Pemanggil centres will close at noon, 17 centres will close at 2pm, 42 centres at 4pm, and 1,114 centres at 6pm. - FMT
