The Communications Ministry said Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has imposed strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) requiring all television, radio and digital content to comply with broadcasting guidelines, including filtering out LGBTQ+ elements.
In a written parliamentary reply, the ministry said all local and foreign programmes, including children’s animated products, undergo quality control to ensure they do not contain material deemed contrary to religious, moral or public sensitivities.

The ministry said producers and content providers are required to comply with RTM’s content standards throughout the procurement process, with programmes undergoing multiple screening stages before approval.
It added that RTM also conducts biannual town hall sessions with content providers to brief them on its broadcasting requirements and standards.
The ministry said this in response to a question by Ahmad Saad @ Yahaya (PN-Pokok Sena), who asked about RTM's strategic plan to scrutinise and filter programmes that contain LGBT elements, which he said is aimed at child grooming. - Mkini
