Wheelchair-bound Yusaini Mihmed Yusof was among the early birds who voted at SMK Muar.

Yusaini, 52, who had both legs amputated, said he was determined to cast his vote early despite the less than desirable weather.
He said he was up at 6.30am to get ready to leave for the polling centre.
“I hope that whoever is elected would carry out their duties well and also pay attention to the needs and welfare of disabled people like me,” he told FMT after voting at SMK Muar.
Jasmin Sie, 38, called on young voters to come out and cast their ballots so they can elect an assemblyman who is capable of serving the constituents.
“Don’t consider all parties the same. If we choose the right representative, we will have a better future,” she said.
Nor Azman Nayan, 63, and his wife, Nor Hahayati Selahhudin, 59, said they decided to vote earlier to avoid getting caught in a queue at the polling centre.
“We’ve never missed an election,” they said, proudly.
Mother and daughter Bibi Mahmud, 69, and Norani Ibnu Masooda, 31, said they reside in Melaka and left for Muar at 6am so they could be among the first few to vote.
There is a four-cornered contest for the Maharani seat involving candidates from Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional, and Muda.
The last assemblyman was Abdul Aziz Talib of PAS, who is not fielded this time around. He won the seat with a 1,037-vote majority in the 2022 state election. - FMT
