PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang claimed his party is in active talks with Umno for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, which will kick off this Saturday.
At a press conference in Negeri Sembilan last night, Hadi indicated that PAS intends to make way for Umno in the 14 seats it holds, with talks centred on dividing the 17 seats held by Pakatan Harapan.
The Marang MP even said that the two seats held by Bersatu could be up for discussion.
"(The goal) is for Malay-Muslims to rule Negeri Sembilan," he said, adding that PAS has no problem with Umno taking the menteri besar post.
PAS had previously supported efforts by Negeri Sembilan Umno to form a new state government after the latter withdrew support from the Harapan-led ruling coalition.
A letter from Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to Hadi discussing internal Perikatan Nasional disputes indicates that a meeting between PN assemblypersons and state Umno was held days before the latter made its shock move.

If the current talks between PAS and Umno are real, it could be hugely beneficial for BN, and set the stage for a wave against Harapan similar to the recently concluded Johor state election.
While BN did not contest all seats in the 2023 Negeri Sembilan state election, data indicates that BN and PN's vote share combined was 59.9 percent.
In the November 2022 general election, where BN contested all seats, the combined vote share was 54 percent.

PN actually experienced a surge in support in Negeri Sembilan during the last state election compared to the November 2022 polls, believed to be a swing from BN supporters who were not on board with the coalition's partnership with Harapan.
It is not clear how PN would perform this time around given its fractured state.
However, if PAS and the PN parties aligned with it were to make way for BN in at least 19 seats - allowing for a straight fight with Harapan - this will likely translate into victory for BN. - Mkini
