PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian has died while climbing Europe’s highest mountain, Mount Elbrus in Russia, the foreign ministry said.
Wisma Putra said the climber was one of three Malaysians on an expedition organised by a local operator.
Mount Elbrus rises 5,642m (18,510ft) above sea level in the Caucasus mountains in southern Russia. It is the highest mountain in Europe and one of the Seven Summits of mountaineering.
The foreign ministry said the Malaysian embassy in Moscow was in contact with the family, as well as the two other Malaysians in the expedition, and with the relevant authorities in Russia. - FMT
