BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claims the coalition has won 40 seats.

At a press conference, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed that the coalition has won 40 of the 56 state assembly seats at stake. A simple majority of 29 seats is needed to form the state government while a two-thirds majority is reached at 38.
Zahid credited BN’s landslide win to state party chief Onn Hafiz Ghazi, describing it as Onn Hafiz’s “official and personal success” as menteri besar.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, said the election results had not been easy. The new state government to be formed would do its best to fulfill all its election pledges and “BN will continue working closely with the federal unity government,” he added.
Onn Hafiz, who expressed gratitude to the people of Johor for their mandate and trust, said the people’s mandate would spur Johor BN to continue their efforts to serve the people better.
Official results are expected later tonight pending confirmation by the Election Commission. In the 2022 Johor election, BN won 40 of 56 seats, while Pakatan Harapan took 12, Perikatan Nasional three and Muda one.- FMT
