PMX’s grilled for needing bullet-proof BMW Protection for being “fierce Gaza advocate”

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has again become a subject of trolling by detractors after he justified that against his reluctance, he was advised to use the so-called POTUS’ Beast-matching bullet-proof BMW 7 Series Protection given his “very fierce fight for Gaza”.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman has continued to deny that he wanted the car given its so-called registration plate bearing “WAH 1” is deemed his name in Mandarin by consistently attributing it to the recommendation of others, presumably the cops and national intelligence service, for his safety and well-being.

Moreover, PMX also claimed that the BMW 7 Series Protection with 530 PS 4.4L twin-turbo V8 which could cost anything from RM3 mil to RM7 mil based on its custom-maker features was “ordered” before his premiership ascension, an insinuation that he has no say in its acquisition.

“I don’t want to use the bullet-proof vehicle (but) at that time, there was a lot of talk about Gaza … and the feedback was that Anwar was very fierce about Gaza,” he said at a PH ceramah on Thursday (July 9) nightI was told to use the bullet-proof car for a few weeks. I said “no” but the reply was that it’s already in stock. In other words, just use it when there’re no guest from abroad.

“(But) I didn’t buy it … it’s an old car … why must I lie when you (opposition faction) remain quiet when people plundered billions in land and timbre …

Editor’s Note: The Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) and the International Ceremonial and Secretariat Division (BIUPA) had earlier clarified that the vehicle is an existing asset owned by BIUPA and is not PMX’s new official vehicle.

“The vehicle in question is provided to meet the country’s official needs, particularly for the use of heads of state and heads of government with the rank of president or PM during official visits to Malaysia in line with international protocol and security requirements,” they pointed out in a statement.

“For that purpose, this vehicle must meet security specifications designed to withstand high-calibre ballistic threats, explosions as well as modern security risks including drone threats.”

However, the vehicle was selected for temporary use by PMX on the advice and security assessment of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as PMX’s official vehicle gifted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is undergoing maintenance.

Regardless, vocal Madani critic Datuk Eric See-To has countered that the car was purchased prior to PMX’s appointment given it was “only launched in August 2023 with delivery began in December 2023 limited to the European continent”.

“Therefore, the JPM would probably have received the order end-2024 or 2025 during the Madani administration,” jibed the former Barisan Nasional (BN) strategic communications deputy director in a FB Reel. “Aiyoyo, so who’s now lying?”

Interestingly, detractors cast doubt at PMX’s reasoning of his heroics in Gaza warranting his use of the Beemer as evident in the MYNEWSHUB’s FB post which has garnered 16K likes, 4.8K comments and 298 shares at the time of writing.

Few commenters downplayed the PKR president’s role as they deemed centenarian twice former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who turned 101 yesterday (July 10) as the “ultimate Gaza hero”.

“When it comes to the question of ‘fierce’, TunM is 10 times fiercer in attacking Israeli Zionists at the international level, including at UN gatherings,” rebutted some with another claimed “the truth is that PMX is actually afraid of death. 😂😂😂

This is when one commenter recounted one damming PMX statement to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) – “I support ALL efforts to protect the security of the state of Israel” while another chided him for “being fierce about Gaza yet subservient in front of (US president Donald) Trump 😁”.

Others mocked PMX for his “powerful/speedy spin” and incessant “self-praising” tendencies which only “walanon (diehard Madani backers) would believe”.

At the end of the day, one commenter aptly summed up PMX’s justification as “if you can’t convince them, confuse them first 😊” with another having no qualms that “PMX deserves a Grammy” for so capable of wiggling his way out of tricky situations.
