Woman superbike rider killed in crash after bike festival

KUALA TERENGGANU:

A woman motorcyclist was killed after her high-powered machine crashed into a road divider near here this evening while she was returning home from the Superbike Fighter event in Gong Badak.

Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Noor said the woman, aged 40, lost control of her Aprilia superbike while negotiating a bend and crashed into a road divider at about 6.45pm while travelling from Gong Badak in Kuala Nerus towards Dungun.

She died at the scene from severe injuries sustained in the crash. The woman, from Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi in Selangor, was believed to be returning to her homestay accommodation in Dungun, Azli said.

Meanwhile, a policeman was killed after being thrown out of the car he was driving when he lost control and veered off the road at Km30 of the Pasir Puteh-Kota Bharu federal road near Kampung Banir Belikong junction in Pasir Puteh last night.

Pasir Puteh police chief Saari Yaacob said in the 11.50pm incident, the 28-year-old victim, who was attached to the Setiu police headquarters in Terengganu, was believed to have been on his way home to Pasir Puteh from Kota Bharu.

The victim suffered serious head injuries. - FMT
