The former education minister believed his direct relationship with top government leaders from Pakatan Harapan was an advantage for the people of Puteri Wangsa he could leverage.
“I will use this advantage as best as I can for my constituents in Puteri Wangsa,” he told reporters after his election win was confirmed past midnight.
Maszlee, of PKR, won the five-cornered race for Puteri Wangsa with a 5,744-vote majority ahead of his closest contender, MCA’s Teow Chia Ling.
The 16th Johor state election saw BN record a landslide win of 48 seats while PH took the remaining eight.
