NCID director Hussein Omar Khan says four police officers have been given access to the pilot in Jakarta.
Bukit Aman narcotics crime investigation department director Hussein Omar Khan said they would meet with the pilot over the next two days.
This would enable Malaysian investigators to compare information obtained from him with details gathered locally.
Hussein also said police have so far called up four people here to assist with investigations, although he stressed that the main focus was the syndicate behind the alleged drug trafficking operation.
He added that police were not relying solely on a phone number believed to have been used by the syndicate to identify those involved, as it had been registered using a false identity.
“It is not as simple as getting a phone number, tracing who owns it and immediately arresting that person. They registered this phone number under a false identity. But we have other means of tracing them,” he said here.
Indonesian authorities previously said the pilot was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on July 29 after allegedly being found with 25kg of ecstasy pills and 2.7g of methamphetamine.
Police foil RM21.7mil international drug shipment
Separately, Hussein said police had crippled an international drug trafficking syndicate after foiling an attempt to smuggle drugs worth an estimated RM21.7 million into the international market.
Hussein said Op Lejogaster, conducted between July 12 and Aug 3, resulted in the arrest of one Malaysian and eight foreign men aged 22 to 51 in three raids in Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
He said the foreign nationals were suspected drug mules, including five believed to be Portuguese nationals based on the passports they carried, as well as one Myanmar national and two Singaporeans.
In the first raid on July 12, police arrested two men outside a hotel lobby in Bayan Lepas, Penang, and seized two pieces of luggage containing 60 packages of suspected cannabis flowers weighing about 31.7kg.
A subsequent search of a house in Bayan Lepas led to the seizure of another 60 packages containing about 31kg of suspected cannabis flowers.
On Aug 3, police raided a house in Taman Bukit Citra, Mantin, Negeri Sembilan, where they arrested a third suspect and seized 10 pieces of luggage containing 170 packages of suspected cannabis buds weighing about 175.8kg.
Five foreign nationals were subsequently arrested in Sepang, Selangor, four of whom were believed to have been recruited as drug mules.
A third raid on the same day, at Penang International Airport, resulted in the arrest of another foreign national and the seizure of two bags containing 60 packages of suspected cannabis flowers weighing about 31.6kg.
In total, police seized about 270kg of cannabis and a small amount of methamphetamine believed to be for personal use. Hussein said the drugs were estimated to be worth RM21.62 million, enough to supply about 630,000 users.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the rotan upon conviction. - FMT
