Inquest into Seremban schoolboy’s death to begin next month

 The officer assisting the inquest, Norazihah Asmuni, says 51 witnesses will be called to help determine the cause of death of Iman Zhafran Abdullah.

Coroner Tasnim Abu Bakar set the inquest for Sept 14, Sept 21, Oct 5-7, Oct 21 and Oct 28.

The inquest into the death of 10-year-old Iman Zhafran Abdullah, who died after being found unconscious in a school in Senawang, Seremban, in October last year, will begin next month.

The officer assisting the inquest, Norazihah Asmuni, told coroner Tasnim Abu Bakar that a total of 51 witnesses would be called, including teachers, pupils and the victim’s friends, BuletinTV3 reported.

Tasnim then set seven days for the inquest to be conducted – Sept 14, Sept 21, Oct 5-7, followed by Oct 21 and Oct 28, with each session beginning at 2.30pm.

Lawyer Yazid Salim, who is representing the victim’s family, asked the court to allow him and the victim’s parents to examine the witnesses.

He also sought the court’s discretion to allow disclosure of documents, with copies to be provided to the lawyers and the victim’s family.

“We understand the sensitivity of the matter, so the documents will remain under the control of the lawyers and their clients,” he said.

The victim’s father, Hafizuddin Abdullah, 41, and mother, Zuzita Murib Sagita, were also present in court today.

Iman was found unconscious in his school on Oct 1, 2025. He was reported to have left his classroom at 12.10pm and was later found unconscious within the school grounds.

He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem on Oct 2 determined his cause of death to be compression to the neck, with no other injuries found on the body.

Police investigations looked into the possibility of bullying and recorded statements from 49 witnesses. - FMT
