Senior medical officer remanded in RM1.5mil knee implant probe

PETALING JAYA:

A senior medical officer has been remanded for five days by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Melaka to assist in investigations into alleged abuse of power involving the supply of knee implants worth about RM1.5 million.

The remand order against the civil servant, in his 50s, was issued by Ayer Keroh magistrate Sharda Shienha Suleiman this morning, reported Harian Metro.

The suspect has been remanded until Sept 12 to allow MACC to conduct further investigations.

According to a source, the suspect was detained at about 3.30pm yesterday when he went to the Melaka MACC office to have his statement recorded.

The source said, based on preliminary investigations, they believe the suspect could have committed the offence between 2024 and 2026. - FMT
