The Johor state government and local authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the issue involving the Network School tech commune in Forest City and will not tolerate any breach of the law or licensing conditions.
Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said if the investigation finds any violations, stern action will be taken, including revoking the company’s licence or operating permit in the state.
“Regarding the recent issue involving Network School in Forest City, any matter concerning the entry of foreign nationals into the country falls under the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry.
“However, the Johor state government and local authorities will conduct a thorough investigation,” Tunku Ismail (above) said in a post on his official Facebook yesterday.
Earlier yesterday, Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) had issued a “Stop Business Notice” against premises operating without a valid business licence, linked to Network School’s operations in Forest City.

Onn also said that a separate Advertising Licence Notice (6103) was issued under Section 107(2) of the Local Government Act 1976 for displaying signage that did not comply with the stipulated conditions and was inconsistent with the approval granted.
“The state government stresses that MBIP will continue investigating all matters within its jurisdiction.
“Should any breach of the law, licensing conditions or regulations in force be found, further enforcement action will be taken in accordance with the law,” he said.
Alleged Israeli agenda
Bernama reported that the actions were taken after the company failed to comply with the conditions of its business licence and the permitted use of the premises.
It was also found to have misused an administrative office as a space for educational activities.
Inspections found that the company operated from two premises. One had a valid administrative office licence, while the other was operating without an MBIP business licence despite being owned by a Malaysian citizen.

Earlier, claims circulated on social media linking the presence of Network School in Forest City to an alleged Israeli agenda to establish a covert foothold in the country through cryptocurrency investments.
On Thursday, Network School founder and American tech investor Balaji Srinivasan said a meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is necessary to discuss “paths forward” following the investigations.
The Johor government had previously asked authorities to investigate the private residential and co-working community over allegations that Israelis with dual citizenship are living there. - Mkini
