Kulim police chief Syamsul Sinring says the emergency siren was reported to have malfunctioned when the incident occurred this afternoon.

PETALING JAYA: A woman and two boys were drowned while another boy survived after they were swept away by strong currents during a water surge phenomenon at a popular waterfall at Taman Eko Rimba Sungai Sedim near Kulim, Kedah, today.
Kulim police chief Syamsul Sinring said the emergency siren at the location was reported to have malfunctioned when the incident occurred at about 2.30pm.
Kulim Hi-Tech fire and rescue station chief Haiqal Izwan Nasir said all the victims were found floating at the waterfall in the middle section of the hill.
He identified the dead as Nur Atikah Abdullah, 28, Uzair Ahmadi Hussain, 12, and Aariz Danial Radzi, 3.
He said the boy who survived was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation before the arrival of the medical team. - FMT
