Sungai Buloh MP R Ramanan says he has forwarded his objections to the proposed data centre to MBPJ but has yet to get a reply.

In a Bernama report, the human resources minister said the need for stronger guidelines and mechanisms to govern the siting of data centres, particularly near housing areas, needed to be examined.
“I am not against development or investments that can drive the country’s economic growth. However, every development must be based on facts, thorough studies and meaningful engagement with all stakeholders.”
Ramanan said he had submitted an official objection letter to the Petaling Jaya city council (MBPJ) mayor on Wednesday to state his position on the proposed development.
“However, no official response has been received from MBPJ regarding the objection submitted.”
He said the Sungai Buloh parliamentary service centre had reviewed the proposed project, following complaints from residents, to obtain a clearer understanding of the issue.
Ramanan said preliminary findings identified several areas requiring attention.
These included the suitability of the site, community well-being, the impact on existing infrastructure and the environment, as well as residents’ quality of life.
He also stressed that the service centre had not been informed of the proposed development or involved in any engagement sessions or discussions on matters affecting Kota Damansara residents.
“Any large-scale development that may affect the local community should be carried out transparently and inclusively, involving all stakeholders, including the area’s elected representative,” he said.
Ramanan said he would continue monitoring developments and ensure the concerns of Kota Damansara residents were raised at the relevant levels until a fair, transparent and people-centric solution was reached. - FMT
