4 killed in 11-vehicle pile-up on East Coast Expressway 1

PETALING JAYA:

Four people were killed and four others injured in an 11-vehicle pile-up at KM110.4 of the East Coast Expressway 1, Kuantan-bound, near Temerloh, Pahang, last night.

Pahang fire and rescue department assistant operations director Salahuddin Isa said the crash involved two Proton Sagas, two Perodua Myvis, a Toyota Alphard, an express bus, a Proton S70, a tanker lorry, a Honda CRV, a Toyota Hilux and a Perodua Aruz.

The department was alerted to the incident at 10.44pm. First-responders arrived at 11.24pm, Berita Harian reported.

Salahuddin said three people in the S70 died at the scene – the male driver, a female passenger and a child – as well as a man in the CRV.

The four injured victims were two men who were trapped in the lorry and the CRV, a woman in the Hilux, and a man in one of the Proton Sagas.
