BN to decide Negeri Sembilan MB candidate only if it wins polls

Barisan Nasional will only name its Negeri Sembilan menteri besar candidate after the Aug 1 state election if it succeeds in forming the incoming administration, says state Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias.

Jalaluddin said BN has several candidates capable of leading the state government, but the final decision rests with the coalition’s leadership, Astro Awani reported.

“Once we achieve victory, BN’s leadership will decide who is best suited to be appointed the menteri besar to lead the state government,” he was quoted as saying.

Jalaluddin, who is among those touted as potential menteri besar, is seeking a third term as Pertang assemblyman in a three-way contest against Pakatan Harapan’s Umry Abdul Khois and Bersatu’s Faizal Fadli Idrus.

The Pertang state seat falls under the Jelebu parliamentary constituency, which Jalaluddin has represented since 2018. - FMT
