Bodies of 2 who fell from Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge found in Sg Perak

The bodies of two people reported missing after falling from the Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge in Bagan Datuk, Perak, yesterday were found floating in Sungai Perak today.

The body of Nor Ferdaus Mokhtar, 42, was found at 11.59am, while that of two-year-old Wong Long Hee was found several hours later.

The two victims were among three people who reportedly fell from the bridge into the river in two separate incidents yesterday. The third, Wong’s mother Lim Li Yin, 38, was confirmed dead yesterday.

Bagan Datuk police chief Ali Jali said Ferdaus was found about 7km from where he was believed to have fallen.

“The body has been sent to Teluk Intan Hospital for an autopsy,” Berita Harian reported him as saying today.

It was reported yesterday that Ferdaus’s motorcycle was found on the bridge’s shoulder near where he is believed to have fallen, triggering a search and rescue operation.

The incident involving Wong and Lim occurred later while the search operation was still under way. Ali said Wong’s body was found at around 2pm today, around 10km away from the bridge. - FMT
