Heavy rain triggers flash floods across parts of Klang Valley

 Firefighters respond to rising waters at a Petaling Jaya food court, while videos on social media show flooding elsewhere in the area.

Firefighters said the floodwaters at the Medan Selera 223 food court rose to about 2m deep.

PETALING JAYA:

Heavy rain triggered flash floods in parts of the Klang Valley this afternoon, including at a food court in Petaling Jaya.

The Selangor fire and rescue department said it received a distress call at 4.35pm reporting flooding at the Medan Selera 223 food court in Section 51A.

The department said 12 firefighters from the Petaling Jaya fire station were deployed to the scene at 4.55pm, where they found floodwaters about 2m deep.

However, the floodwaters were already receding, and no casualties or evacuations were reported, it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, videos shared on Threads showed flooding around Amway Malaysia’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya and on several roads in the area following the downpour. - FMT
