The Barisan Nasional chairman says the electoral pact is an opportunity to bring together Muslims and non-Muslims from both coalitions.

Zahid said this was in line with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s directive for PN’s members and supporters to support BN in the Negeri Sembilan polls as they had done in Johor.
“We will do the same for them. We hope that not only the party machinery, but also voters on both sides, will translate the support shown by the leadership of these two coalitions into votes,” he told reporters after the Gema@KKDW 2026 programme at Felda Palong 8 today.
In his speech earlier, Zahid said PN was BN’s “new partner”, and thanked the coalition for helping realise a new “political recipe”.
“We are not seeking to oppress anyone, but the time has come for Malay-Muslim unity to be realised in this country,” he said.
He said BN was not rejecting other races, religions or parties, but was using the current political reality as an opportunity to “embrace” both Muslims and non-Muslims in BN and PN.
“This is the political reality. This is the opportunity that Allah has bestowed upon us as Muslims and Malays, and we are also embracing non-Muslims in BN and PN. We are one family in a plural society,” he said.
Negeri Sembilan goes to the polls on Aug 1.
Pakatan Harapan is contesting all 36 seats, while BN and the PAS-led PN have reached an electoral understanding under which BN will contest 25 seats and PN 11. - FMT
