Negri Sembilan polls: BN-PN to come up with joint manifesto

SEREMBAN: The newly established Perikatan Nasional special working committee will finalise recommendations and input for a joint manifesto with Barisan Nasional for the Negri Sembilan election.

PN information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the move was aimed at ensuring a mutually-agreed manifesto could be produced and presented to the people.

"The PN election machinery steering committee today agreed to establish a special working committee to finalise recommendations and input for the manifesto.

"As we are working with BN this time, PN's manifesto proposals will be integrated into the BN-PN joint manifesto.

"As the process is rather complex, involving component parties and a large number of candidates, we have first established a working committee to prepare the recommendations. These will then be referred to BN as joint input," he said after PN's election machinery steering committee meeting today.

On Friday, PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the coalition had not ruled out launching a joint manifesto with BN for the Negri Sembilan state election.

However, he said the matter remained under discussion and was still only a possibility.

Meanwhile, Annuar said each PN candidate would also present a localised "candidate's pledge" outlining commitments specific to their respective constituencies.

"It is a manifesto at the local level for each candidate. If elected, it will outline what they will offer voters in their constituency. So we will have two types of manifesto," he said.

Also present at the meeting were Samsuri, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, PN election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Parti Wawasan Negara vice-president Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

Meanwhile, Sanusi expressed confidence in the coalition's support among voters ahead of the state election.

He said the current momentum appeared to favour the PN-BN alliance, which he claimed had taken the lead in the contest.

"At the moment, PN-BN is leading. The blue wave is ahead of the red wave.

"People can feel the strength of this alliance. This understanding has brought a new sense of optimism among the people," he said when asked about sentiment on the ground ahead of the state election. - NST
