KUALA LUMPUR: A TikTok video of a teacher gifting a new pair of shoes to a student has gone viral, drawing over 400,000 views and touching the hearts of social media users.

The clip, shared by user @amrlzmie, shows a student struggling to put on his worn-out school shoes, which appear torn and full of holes.

Noticing the boy's condition, the teacher surprises him with a brand-new pair.

"I bought you new shoes, see if they fit," the teacher says in the video.

As the student tries them on, the teacher gently adds: "If you like it, smile."

The boy then looks up and breaks into a wide, heartfelt grin.

In the caption, @amrlzmie explained the motivation behind the gesture: "I may not be able to change the life of every student. But if I am able to lighten their burden even just a little, that is meaningful enough."

The post has since drawn praise from netizens who were moved by the interaction.
