KUALA LUMPUR: Firefighters helped transfer a woman weighing about 200kg from her sixth-floor flat at the Seri Pantai People's Housing Project in Pantai Dalam to an ambulance after she suffered health complications today.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency request from the Health Ministry through the NG999 hotline at 4.39pm.

A team from the Pantai Fire and Rescue Station, comprising six personnel and a fire engine, was despatched to the scene.

Operations commander Jumari Omar said the woman, believed to be in her late 50s, required assistance to be moved from her flat to an ambulance for treatment at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

"Firefighters carried the patient on a stretcher through the building's lift before safely transferring her to the waiting ambulance.

"The patient was then handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment," he said. - NST
