Man arrested over post allegedly insulting Negeri Sembilan royalty

PETALING JAYA:

Police have arrested a man over a social media post containing statements deemed insulting to the Negeri Sembilan royal institution.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the post was published on Threads on July 17.

He said the 52-year-old man was arrested at the Seremban police headquarters at about 1pm today to assist in the investigation.

A mobile phone belonging to the suspect was also seized.

“The suspect will be brought before the Seremban magistrates’ court tomorrow for a remand application,” Alzafny said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505 of the Penal Code for making statements conducive to public mischief, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities.
