Police career taught me how to serve the people, says PN’s Razali

 The Wawasan candidate for Sikamat says his years as Melaka deputy police chief have prepared him for public service.

Razali Abu Samah is contesting Sikamat in a three-cornered fight against Pakatan Harapan’s Nor Azman Mohamad and Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

Parti Wawasan Negara’s Sikamat candidate, Razali Abu Samah says his years as a senior police officer have equipped him with the experience needed to serve as an elected representative in Negeri Sembilan.

A former Melaka deputy police chief, Razali said his policing career involved managing personnel while maintaining close ties with the community.

“When I was in the police force, I was in charge of an entire state. I had officers and personnel under me. This is what we practised – understanding the grassroots through the people we met.

“The police’s motto is that the police and the community are inseparable. We constantly organised programmes with the community through the community policing department.

“These experiences gave me the confidence to organise programmes and engage with the community today,” he said when met during campaigning today.

Razali is contesting Sikamat in a three-cornered fight against Pakatan Harapan’s Nor Azman Mohamad and Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

The seat has been held by Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun since 2018. Aminuddin, the Negeri Sembilan PH chairman, is contesting in Linggi this time around.

Razali said cooperation between Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional component parties had strengthened his confidence over the first three days of the campaign.

“There is unity and understanding. Umno, PAS, Wawasan, Gerakan and MIPP are all working together. That has given me the spirit and confidence to continue,” he said.

Asked whether he was worried that Bersatu’s decision to contest Sikamat under its own banner would split the opposition’s vote and benefit PH, Razali declined to speculate.

“We are not here to fight individuals. We are here to present our ideas and ideology and what we want to bring.

“I cannot say the votes will split one way or another. The voters know how to make their own decisions. Sikamat’s young voters know the direction they want to take and how to shape their future.

“I hope voters and the community will be mature in deciding the direction they want for the future,” he said.

Negeri Sembilan goes to the polls on Aug 1. - FMT
