Nur Jazlan gets 2nd term as Senate deputy president

 The former Pulai MP is elected unopposed as the only nominee for the post.

PETALING JAYA:

Umno’s former Pulai MP Nur Jazlan Mohamed was re-elected as deputy president of the Dewan Negara this morning.

The post was vacated after Nur Jazlan completed his first term as senator. The Umno Supreme Council member was appointed to a second term as a member of the Senate today, effective until June 14, 2029.

He was reappointed as Senate deputy president after being the only nominee for the post. He was nominated by higher education minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, Berita Harian reported.

Nur Jazlan, the Pulai Umno chief, was first elected Senate deputy president in June 2023 after obtaining more votes from senators than the other nominee, Bersatu information chief Razali Idris.

Razali was proposed by Gerakan president Dominic Lau, who was still a senator at the time. - FMT
