PN ‘toxic’? Don’t forget who helped you become PM, Hamzah tells Muhyiddin

 The Wawasan president says Muhyiddin Yassin would not have become the prime minister if not for PAS or Umno.

Parti Wawasan Negara president Hamzah Zainudin has criticised Muhyiddin Yassin for saying that Perikatan Nasional has become “toxic” under PAS’s leadership, and reminded him that the Islamic party was instrumental in helping the Bersatu president become prime minister in 2020.

Hamzah said it was unreasonable to make such accusations without considering PAS’s contributions to the coalition’s political journey.

“How can he say (that PN has become) toxic? Without PAS, Muhyiddin would not have become prime minister. Without Umno, he would not have become prime minister.

“Let’s not call people toxic. Remember how other parties helped you become prime minister,” he said after a meeting with the Sikamat and Ampangan candidates in the Negeri Sembilan state election today.

Hamzah said Muhyiddin must remember that PN does not belong to Bersatu alone, and that its component parties have cooperated to build its political strength, including at the state level.

On Friday, Muhyiddin accused PAS of leading PN astray from its core struggle and of slandering the Bersatu leadership.

PAS ended its political cooperation with Bersatu last month, although both parties remain components of PN.

PAS refused to help with Bersatu’s campaign in the Johor state election, and recently led PN in reaching an electoral pact with Barisan Nasional for the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan polls.

BN is contesting 25 of the 36 seats in Negeri Sembilan, while PN is contesting the remaining 11. Bersatu is contesting 24 seats under its own banner. - FMT
