Dear Apandi Ali,

I’m shocked.

There are no words to describe the way I’m feeling right now. To think that Robert Kuok has quietly been funding shadow groups from within UMNO to split the Malays is nerve wrecking, to say the least. But when I heard that your wife may be helping the billionaire tycoon effect Chinese de facto rule in Malaysia, I almost got a heart attack.

Since mid-last year, I’ve been talking about a shadow movement in UMNO that currently is on a mission to sabotage the administration of Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak. As a matter of fact, I’ve even made it known that someone from within the legal fraternity may be involved in a scheme to sabotage government through acts of subversion. Then, like a bolt from the blue, Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) comes along and tells us of this Chinese tycoon who’s been funding such movements since the late seventies.

I’m speechless!

Honestly, Apandi, it sends chills down my spine knowing that your wife, Puan Sri Faridah Begum, may have been paid millions upon millions by Kuok to publish material deemed insidiously subversive against UMNO and the Government of Malaysia (GoM). Apparently, she’s getting this accomplished via The Malaysian Insight (Insight), a fake news portal currently being run by her own brother, Jahabar Sadiq. Now, it isn’t really that important to me if these allegations are true or not.

What concerns me though is the shadow of doubt these allegations have cast over your ability to function professionally as principal legal advisor to government. As long as the possibility of there being ‘fifth column’ pursuits by persons associated with you exists, there’s no telling how far you’re willing to go to curb these pursuits or if you yourself are party to them.

Are you, Apandi?

Seriously, I’m so afraid thinking what will become of our beloved nation. Thanks to RPK’s disclosure, I can no longer tuck myself in bed every night thinking that I’m sleeping under the blanket of freedom the late Tunku Abdul Rahman offered us in 1957. Imagine, we’re being told that your wife and Jahabar are parties to a conspiracy involving the DAP and Pakatan Harapan to bring into effect a form of Chinese de facto rule in Malaysia. Tell me, is your wife planning to snatch away the blanket of freedom the Tunku offered us in 1957?

The police are likely take these developments into account, Apandi, now that your wife has initiated them into a discovery based on RPK’s claims. I’m sure you recall how she lodged a police report against the blogger and Malaysia Today on counts that were never really made known to public. Rumour has it that her concern was with allegations that she and her partner in Inside Media Sdn Bhd – the company that owns Insight – received some RM20 million or so that isn’t reflected in any of the company’s books.

The report will likely trigger investigations into Inside Media’s methods of funding that, if found in breach of Malaysian laws, would require the filing of criminal proceedings against her and possibly even her brother. Question is, can we trust you to place the law above your personal prejudices in favour of your wife and brother in-law?

Do you now see why it’s inevitable that you resign, Apandi? For the love of God, please, do right by us and resign before things get out of hand. We’ve come a long way since 1957 to let our egos and personal prejudices get in the way of our sovereignty as a nation. Do it for the late Tunku if you must, do it for our King even.

But most of all, do it for truth and justice.
