Brothers leave 72-year-old woman bloodied in snatch theft



A video of a 33-year-old man grabbing the bag of a 72-year-old woman, causing her to fall head first, has gone viral on social media.
According to China Press, police arrested the suspect, along with his 25-year-old brother who drove the getaway car, within an hour from the 1.40pm incident.
The incident happened along Jalan Hamzah, at Taman Limau Manis, Kota Bharu where the woman had her bag snatched while she was about to enter her car.
In the video, one of the brothers alighted from their vehicle parked in front of the victim's car and snuck behind her before snatching her bag, causing her to fall.
She was motionless for close to half a minute and when she struggled to get up, fell into the drain.
The video had left netizens outraged, with some having conducted their own investigation into the getaway car which number plate was clearly caught on the video.
Their investigation found the car belonged to a 59-year-old man.
Police later revealed the car belongs to the elder brother's father-in-law. It was not reported stolen.
The duo was arrested at their father-in-law's residence in Kota Bharu.
Both brothers tested positive for methamphetamine.
The elder brother had three prior criminal records, two under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and one under the Penal Code for theft.
The younger brother had no prior criminal record.
The victim suffered injuries to the left side of her head and was admitted to hospital for treatment.
